proc's man page claims that /proc/<pid>/mem can be used to access the pages of pid. MY attempts to read it only result in EINVAL. Can I have some help here? I am interested in writing to and reading from this file.

you can only read from it when you are the process or when you are ptracing the process and the process is halted.
With some minor alterations to your kernel you will be able to read from any /proc/pid/mem at will.

got the same problem; using lseek64 instead of lseek fixed it.
