We all know that Chromecast is a small dongle we can use to stream MP4 or WebM videos on your computer to HDTV if you plug Chromecast into HDTV’s HDMI port. However, iTunes movies and TV shows you purchased or rented from iTunes can’t be cast to Chromecast directly because of Fairplay DRM protection implemented on iTunes videos by Apple.

To Cast iTunes Videos to Chromecast for HDTV, you need a iTunes to Chromecast converter to remove DRM and convert to Chromecast compatible MP4 video format first.

In this article, we will show you how to cast iTunes M4V videos to Chromecast with TuneMobie M4V Converter Plus and Google Chrome web browser.

Visit [www.tunemobie.com] and download M4V Converter Plus. Here are download link for Windows version and Mac version. If you Chrome browser is lower than V51, please upgrade it to latest version first.

Step 1: Launch the iTunes to Chromecast Converter
Launch TuneMobie M4V Converter Plus and iTunes will be automatically launched as well, then click Add Files button to load iTunes movie library, all iTunes movies, TV shows and music videos will be displayed as playlists in the left panel.

Step 2: Add iTunes M4V Videos
Now choose the movies or TV shows you want to cast to Chromecast. You can use Ctrl or Shift key to select multiple videos at one time, then click Add button, or click “Add All” button to add all movies in the list. Repeat this if videos are listed in different playlists. Or you can use built-in search box to locate videos quickly.

Step 3: Choose Audio & Subtitle Tracks
By default, iTunes to Chromecast Converter will preserve all multilingual subtitles and audio tracks, closed captioning, audio descriptions and Dolby 5.1 track. If necessary, uncheck the ones you don’t need.

Step 4: Start Converting M4V to MP4 for Chromecast
Now you can simply click Convert button to start conversion. The program performs 30X faster conversion speed and costs no more than 20 minutes to convert a 2-hour full HD iTunes M4V video. All output videos will be listed in History. Click History button to manage the output MP4 videos.

Step 5: Plug Chromecast to HDMI Port on Your HDTV
You should be able to find HDMI port in the back of your HDTV. Plug Chromecast or Chromecast Ultra to HDMI port and follow the instructions to set up the dongle.
Please make sure your laptop or desktop computer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Chromecast device.

Step 6: Add iTunes Video to Chrome Browser for Playing
Now launch Google Chrome browser on your computer. We recommend you use latest version. Now you can press Ctrl + O (Command + O in Mac) and locate the converted iTunes movie and TV show you want to play with Chromecast. You can also drag and drop the output MP4 video to Chrome browser directly.

Step 7: Start Casting Converted iTunes Movie or TV Show
If you are still using Chrome 51 or older version, please upgrade Chrome first. Cast functionality has been built in as part of the Chrome browser itself in version 51 or later. So you don’t need to install Google Cast Extension in order to use your Chromecast device from Chrome. You can click Chrome Tools menu in the top right of your Chrome browser window. You can also simply right-click (Control + click on Mac) on Google Chrome and you will also see cast… menu.

Now click cast… and select Chromecast device you would cast to. Start playing your iTunes video and your iTunes video will be mirrored to HDTV. Now, you can enjoy your favorite iTunes movies and TV shows on your HDTV via Chromecast and control the playback as you like.

With the FairPlay DRM technology, iTunes store is not available channel in Chromecast. Therefore, if you want to play iTunes videos on HDTV via Chromecast, the first thing you should do is to remove DRM protection from iTunes movies and TV shows. There are so many tools for you to achieve this goal in the market, but I am using M4V Converter, which is an easy-to-use but professional DRM removal tool and can help you remove iTunes M4V DRM legally and convert them to multiple formats quickly.

Generally speaking, there is no way for us to play iTunes M4V movies and TV shows on Apple unauthorized devices like Chromecast. All iTunes videos are combined with fairplay DRM protection, it can be played on Apple devices only. Even you have paid for these videos, there is no right for you to re-encode or share these videos to other devices. If you are want to play all iTunes videos freely, here you can try to use a DRM removal program-iTunes video converter for mac to convert all videos to MP4 and other multiple format with lossless quality.
