I am working on a project in which i need to vary the rate at which timer interrupts are provided to guest in KVM. Please help me with this to find the starting point. I am new to this kernel update thing.

when kvm calls vmentry or vmresume the guest code starts executing. An external interrupt say timer interrupt occurs which i need to vary the rate at which timer interrupts are provided to guest in KVM .

KVM delivers timer interrupts at the rate requested by the guest kernel.

Running a guest kernel with CONFIG_NOHZ enabled will result in a dynamic number of timer interrupts. Specifically, the number of timer interrupts will be very low when the guest does not need timer interrupts (eg. because it is idle).
